Colorado Spruce
A dwarf form of the familiar Colorado Blue Spruce is a slow grower that is globe-shaped when young and matures to a broad pyramid. The mounded shape can be maintained by pruning out the upright shoots. Bright blue needles provide four seasons of interest, either in a rock garden, foundation planting, or in a mixed border.
‘Glauca Globosa’ is a dwarf, globe-shaped, blue-needled, evergreen shrub with a flattened top that will slowly grow over time to 3-5’ tall and to 4-6’ wide. It is typically sold as a grafted plant. Blue needles hold their color well throughout the year, but are brightest when they first emerge in spring.
