Red Lake Currant is exceptional with large, long, and well-filled clusters of fruit. Clusters of self-fertile greenish-yellow flowers appear, followed by bright red currant berries. The fruit ripens early to mid-season and has a long bearing period. This plant produces fruit on old wood. Red Lake Currant is the finest red currant with large, deep red berries, delicious eaten fresh or used in jams and jellies, ripen mid-July. It is very strong, vigorous, productive and tasty. This shrub's tart currant berries are also harvested to make pies!
