Button Bush

‘Mystical Moonlight’ tolerates wet soil and grows in part sun. The fragrant pale pink sphere shape flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Chamaecyparis

‘Dow Whiting’ has soft, fern like graceful branching that is bright green with a silver/blue under side. This compact pyramidal evergreen is low maintenance with no pruning necessary.

‘Chastetree’ produces grape colored flowers on large panicles in summer. With aromatic gray/green foliage it can be grown as an upright shrub or can be allowed to climb unpruned. Planted in average to moist soil it attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and will tolerate drought conditions.

Coreopsis

‘Presto’ is the answer for low mounding, deer resistant, border plants. This bright yellow semi-double flower mounds above dark green compact foliage. Removing spent blooms keeps this plant producing color all season.

‘Red Shift’ is part of the ‘Big Bang Series’ of color changing threadleaf tickseed. Mid-summer blooms cream-yellow with a red ring changing to deep crimson as temperatures cool. These easy care plants attract butterflies while deer/drought resistant.

‘Sundance’ is a dwarf showy yellow mound used in the front of the border. Grows well in dry, shallow, rocky soil, it attracts butterflies and is deer/rabbit resistant. It can naturalize to fill in quickly.

‘Firebird’ is for the middle of the border displayed in a mass for a flash of color. Red/orange petals surround a dark cone that the butterflies feast on and the deer can resist all this and drought tolerant as well.

Gaillardia

‘Arizona Apricot’ offers a subdued palette of gold/orange/peach shades in a compact uniform mound. Best grown in poor but well drained soils this blanket flower is deer resistant and heat tolerant.

‘Fancy Wheeler’ displays scarlet blooms rimmed in gold with a deep red center. A North American native that is best grown in poor well drained soil it once blanketed the native prairies. They are deer resistant and heat tolerant.

Gentian

‘True Blue’ produces really blue floriferous blooms that open at nodes up and down the stem. Plant in a well drained part sun location, they are considered deer resistant.

Geranium

‘Splish Splash’ has a strong upright habit that produces white flowers splashed with sky blue. Plant mid border in part shade and cut back after first bloom to extend the flowering season.

Grass

‘Desert Plaines’ likes to be planted in well drained soil in full sun. This Pennisetum is compact and mounded, producing five inch long bottle brush plumes above fine textured, vase shaped foliage. The foliage turns deep red/ orange to gold as the season progresses. This plant provides perfect winter interest, is deer resistant and drought tolerant.

Helleborus

‘Helleborus Jewels Series’ is part of the ever widening collection of evergreen, hardy, ground cover plants. The blooms often appear as the snow melts, just waiting to be noticed. Color choices are apricot, cherry and white tinged with magenta. They like moist well drained soil in part shade to shade and deer do not browse.

‘Romantica Family of Roses’ comes to us from Canada. The Victorian style rose was bred in France by Meilland Rose, and offers an intoxicating fragrance. It can be very effective when used as a cut flower due to the strong stems. The Old Rose shaped blooms are lush above a smaller and more upright shrub than seen with the English roses. Rudbeckia

‘Little Goldstrum’ displays a compact form of rich green foliage topped with closely spaced golden yellow starburst blooms. This smaller version of ‘Goldstrum’ Black-Eyed Susan attracts butterflies and provides winter interest.

Salvia
