Ruellia, commonly called Mexican petunia or Texas petunia is easy to grow under most conditions. Low-growing evergreen shrub with long leaves and blue or purple petunia-like flowers. The individual flowers only last for a day, but the plant blooms throughout the summer. Resistant to both drought and wet conditions. These plants are very attractive to butterflies, which makes them popular choices in many yards.
